Located in the southwest of the province of Lugo.
Palas de Rei is a significant population of the Way, the end of the penultimate stage as the Codex Calixtinux.
Belongs to the region of A Ulloa. In the west is the Sierra de Carerón, its highest peak is Mount of the same name with 797 m.
One of the most important monuments is Pambre Castle, built in 1375 by Gonzalo de Ulloa.
Interestingly, the Church of San Tirso, which preserves an interesting XII century Romanesque.
The church of San Salvador de Vilar de Donut was declared a National Monument in 1931. Built in the XII century in Romanesque style and was part of a monastery and disappeared.
The territory of this municipality is full of Celtic forts, Romanesque churches, feudal buildings that inspired the famous Galician writer Emilia Pardo Bazán, in his work "Los Pazos de Ulloa".
