Recently opened, a few steps from the Way of Santiago and historic center of the town, in a quiet area, is the perfect address to rest and prepare for the next stage.

It has 12 beds in 4 rooms, comfortable common areas, free internet, menu, etc., among other services.

Opening hours to the public from 10.00 to 22.30 hours, seven days a week.

The bed price is 10 € and includes bedding.

The Shelter

The hostel is located in Villafranca de los Barros, in the heart of the region of Tierra de Barros, an area of fertile soil known for its extensive vineyards and olive groves. Located in the city center, a few meters from the indications of the Way to Santiago, passing through St. Mary of the Valley Church, by the Town Hall or the Ethnographic Museum, among other areas of interest.

The hostel is a spacious ground floor house typical of the area, qualified to perform the functions of accommodation for pilgrims. It has 12 beds (8 in litters and 4 beds) distributed in 4 rooms with 6, 3, 2 and 1 person, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen-office, large living room, patio with porch and terrace, utility room, area where save and set up bikes, etc.. It is an ideal place to rest for the next stage, as it is a house with thick walls that make it very cool in summer to withstand the days of intense heat of Extremadura. It also has air conditioning and heating.

 

The owner and person in charge of the hostel is Pablo Garcia, a young biologist who decides to turn his passion for nature and the bike, his lifestyle and job. Having made the Way twice, once walking from Orense and another on bike from Seville, and after see the pilgrims pass every day through his town, Villafranca de los Barros, his dream has come true, Shelter "Tierra de Barros".

Mail: alberguetierradebarros@gmail.com) is located near the center, where you can find the City Hall, Plaza of Spain, St. Mary of The Valley Church, Plaza Heart of Mary, the Ethnographic Museum, as well as various restaurants, pharmacy, ATM, bike shop, grocers ...

For those traveling through the Silver Way on two wheels, there is a space for let bicycles 'resting' safely, and if you need any repairs, Pablo will not hesitate to help you.
